2000 Yamaha YZF-R6

I planned on keeping my Ninja 205R until at least next year but I guess I changed my mind. I love my Ninja, but decided that I wanted something that can more easily manage freeway speeds and I also felt I was ready to advance in power as well.

I began looking and eventually came across a 2000 Yamaha YZF-R6 with 11k miles that caught my eye. The guy brought it over and I ended up buying it. I liked the color and the upgrades, such as the R1 swingarm with the wider wheel.

See pics here.

At first I thought the riding position was uncomfortable. The leaned forward position requires me to use my arm and torso strength more than the more relaxed upright position on the Ninja. But, now that I’ve gotten used to it I’ve decided that I actually like the riding position.

I’ve back-dated this post to match the day I bought the bike. In reality, I’ve actually had it for a couple weeks now. I haven’t been riding it much since I need to replace the side-view mirror which is currently in the mail. I also ordered a re-jetting kit for the carbs since it seems to need it. Maybe I can install the kit when I install the Cyclone 866F alarm I got.

The bike has a long list of modifications/upgrades:

- ‘06 R1 forks
- ‘06 R1 Tripples
- ‘06 R1 Swingarm
- ‘06 R1 Rims and tires
- ‘09 R1 Rear shock
- ‘08 R6 tail
- Aftermarket Camshaft
- Carbs Re-jetted
- Custom exhaust w/ Two Brothers Racing carbon fiber
- Frame savers
- Integrated turn signals in side mirrors and brake light
